Photo of the Day, Day 61 - "The Cross of Love"

Sunday, September 1, 2013

Today, I decided to take a picture of a cross given to my husband and me as a wedding gift.  I love this cross.  I have it hanging in our room above some wedding pictures.  Imprinted on this cross is 1st Corinthians 13:4-8, the love verses from The Bible.

I walked in my sons' room and this is what I saw:

My boys' love to play in the curtains.  I couldn't get a very good one of both their shadows, and Luc was done quicker then I could press the shutter button on the camera.  Owen, however, put on a show for me. :)

Who else has a wall like this in their house?  As I've said before, this is my boys' "Art Wall."  Every week it gets filled with new things they've done in Preschool.  This week they learned about circles, the color red, and STOP signs.  They also had their school pictures taken, I believe their teacher did practice pictures with them before having the real school picture done. :)  I love seeing what my boys' bring home day after day.  I get a little sad when they don't bring anything home.  I'm so proud of my sweet boys and the work they're doing in school.

Photo of the Day, Day 58 - "Ike the Spider"

Thursday, August 29, 2013

No, I do not normally give spiders names.  However, while I was editing this picture, one of my sons was saying something to me that I could not understand.  I was showing him the spider and thought he was saying, "Ike. Ike. Ike."  I asked him if the spider's name was Ike and he said, "Nope. Iank"  I then asked him if he was trying to say "Bike." "Nope. Ank."  It ended up that he was trying to say "Bank."  I don't know why, but he was trying to talk about the bank. Haha  Well, I liked the name Ike and since I don't know what kind of spider this is, it worked for naming the photo.  If anyone knows what kind of spider this is, please tell me. :)

This time of year, it has come to our attention (in our new house), we end up getting a lot of spider webs outside.  I have seriously never noticed this many spider webs in any place we lived before.  There's always a down side and an up side to spider webs.
  • Down side: if there are spider webs, there are spiders.  If there are spider webs, I will walk through them.
  • Up side: if there are spider webs, they will catch flying insect. :)  I'm not sure which I do not like more: flying insects or spiders (probably flying insects, to tell you the truth).  Now, if there was a flying spider, that would definitely take the cake.

As I looked out our back door, while eating breakfast, I noticed this web with a spider on it stretched across the steps leading down to our deck.  I quickly jumped up and ran to grab my camera and spray bottle of water and I was out the door.  The web was in pretty bad shape, I guess she had a good night of catching insects.  I sprayed some water on it and as I did Ike came to life.  She quickly started taking the web down.  I took a little video, but as I was taking the video she became fairly still, of course.  So, I didn't get any good video of her actually taking it down.  However, I got two GREAT pictures of her.  It was REALLY hard to choose between the two, but I chose this one.  I just love this shot, it really makes me think of spiders in a whole new light.  I've always thought spiders were interesting, but never wanted to get up close to them.  Since having twin boys, all that has changed.  I don't want my boys to be scared of things, but aware of things that could harm them.  This requires me to get a little too close for comfort to point things out to them.  Therefore, I can't jump and scream every time I see a spider or a wasp or bee gets to close.  I have to keep calm.  Now, roaches are a WHOLE different story.  I demand the right to jump and scream if I see one. ;)

I hope you enjoy this picture because I'm very proud of it.

By the way, I dedicate this picture to my loving husband and lovely sister, who both HATE spiders. ;) Ha.

Photo of the Day, Day 57 - Behind the Lens

Tuesday, August 28, 2013

A thirty-four day hiatus from my Photo of the Day Blogs. Wow! That's over a month! I sure have missed it. So, let's see, July 25th - August 28th was my hiatus, although I'm sure I could go back and find images from most of those days to share. ;) However, I will just pick up with day 57, I believe that's where I would be (I've never had much patience for math). For day 57 I chose to update my profile picture with a picture of me behind the lens. I'm loving this shot! :)

You'd never guess how hard it is to focus on two different places at once.  My left eye had to focus on the reflection of the lens in the mirror and my right eye had to focus through the lens at the shot I was capturing.  Not an easy task.

Photo of the Day - Day 22, Arms Full

Wednesday, July 24, 2013:

My husband had his arms full last night when these little guys decided they both wanted daddy to carry them back to get ready for bed.  They sure do miss their daddy when he's at work.  They just about trample him when he gets home at the end of the day.

Photo of the Day - Day 21, Trailing Vinca

So, I'd have to say one of the highlights of my day today was finding this flowered plant, a Trailing Vinca.  It's so pretty!  I just went out to take a picture of one of them and there are going to be so many new buds tomorrow! :)  Can't wait!

Photo of the Day - Day 20, Curious George

My boys have all of sudden really taken a liking to Curious George.  They LOVE to watch Curious George.  They have never shown interest in cartoon animal characters before.  In fact, the only cartoons they'll sit through are Caillou and Thomas (and Barney, but that's not a cartoon).  However, all of sudden Curious George is their favorite.

My two sweet little men.  This was yesterday, but today when Daddy asked Owen why he didn't play in the sandbox with the sand Owen replied, "It's no fun." haha  Little men.

These are my men first thing in the morning.  haha  My little men definitely take after their daddy.  This is what I found when I returned to our room after my shower. haha  They were in the dark, the light is from my flash. haha

Photo of the Day - Day 17, A Wedding Invitation

So, I was so involved in this wedding slideshow I'm working on that I completely forgot to post my Photo of the Day yesterday.  I am working on a wedding slideshow as a birthday present for my sister and her husband who were married in May.  As their birthdays vastly approach, my time is running out to get it in the mail and to them by my sister's birthday. :)  So, I chose a picture I took today of their wedding invitation for the Photo of the Day for July 18th, 2013.

Photo of the Day - Day 16, Crash

This is what happens when little boys don't listen to Mama and Daddy when told not to throw their wooden trains and cars on the hard wood or brick paver floors.  We had a little talk after this about what can happen if they throw them on these floors.  Thus, I give you, Photo of the Day - Day 16, Crash.

Photo of the Day - Day 15, Hamburgerburgerburg

I'm sorry, I forgot to share my Photo of the Day yesterday.  This was a momentous occasion.  I know that sounds funny.  I mean this is just a photo of a kid eating a hamburger, right?  BUT!  This is MY kid eating a hamburger, this is something that hasn't happened before.  My Luc actually asked for a hamburger, said he likes hamburgers.  He has taken bites of Mimi's and Mama's hamburgers from time to time, but would not eat one if I placed it in front of him.  I wasn't really sure he or his brother would eat it this time.  Owen did not touch the hamburger, he took one look at it and said, "There's meat in there." haha  I don't understand his problem with meat, he eats chicken and hot dogs.  Oh, goodness.  Well, here is my photo of the day, my sweet Lucas eating his hamburger. :)

Photo of the Day - Day 15, Hamburgerburgerburg
Oh! I forgot to explain the title Hamburgerbugerburg.  The first time the boys ever talked about a hamburger they kept calling it hamburgerburgerburg.  We think that's so cute, it's being phased out which is sad, but they're growing up. :)

Photo of the Day - Day 14, Work

So, I started thinking that it's time for me to post my photo of the day, only I didn't really have one.  So, I figure I will post the screen shot I took of my laptop desktop earlier today.  That seems to be what my day has mainly consisted of.  That I should've taken more pictures of my boys today.  I took video of them, but that's not a photo. ;)

Bernice & Beverly

Bernice and Beverly are sisters and have an amazingly close relationship.  I had asked Bernice if she'd like to model for me sometime and she jumped at the chance.  My sister-in-law, Beverly, was in town, so I asked if she'd like join in on some of the pictures.  She said she'd love to.  So, I did a sister shoot and then Bernice became a cowgirl for me.  I was surprised she actually had a cowgirl boots.  We had a fun day.  Thank you again, Bernice and Beverly, for doing some modeling for me. :)  Love you, girls!

LOVE this shot of my sister-in-law!

This may very well be my favorite, in an artsy sense.
I just love the contrast in this black & white:)
It was very muddy, due to it raining not to long before the shoot.  Bernice joked that getting her cowgirl boots dirty would make them look more authentic.  Well, we sure made them look authentic, right Bernice?

Photo of the Day - Day 13, Relaxation

Today I was able to sit on the back porch, read a little, and watch my boys play on the swing set with Lauren.  Lauren is our neighbor's little girl, she has the sweetest spirit I've ever been in contact with.  From the moment I met this little angel I knew she was someone special.  I pray I get to watch her grow and see the woman she will become one day.

Photo of the Day - Day 12, Sun Rays and Flare

I chose this photo for today, not because it's a great photo, but because the sun looks awesome, love the rays and flare! :)  Some of the girls were playing with our boys' tee ball in our back yard. :)

Photo of the Day - Day 11, "For You Mama." and "Coming To Say Hey."

After our trip to the Jackson Zoo today, I came up with two pictures that I just could not choose between.  Both are of my sweet boys.  The first one is Owen.  He found a pretty leaf on the ground and said, "For you, Mama."  I was so glad I had my camera ready to snap this picture of him handing the leaf to me.  I thanked The Lord for this picture coming out SO perfect, it really was not an easy to get.  Then second shot is of my son, Lucas, he was pointing at the flamingo while saying, "Coming to say hey." It was too cute.  That flamingo actually caught sight of Luc and I and was walking over towards us which is what brought up the "Coming to say hey."  I think I'm going to have to frame these two pictures. :)

Photo of the Day - Day 10, Two of a Kind

Well, my sweet, sweet boys decided to be sweet to one another.  They watched YouTube on my phone TOGETHER, without bickering!  They found this cozy spot in the long hallway between boxes and the wall (still unpacking after a move) to lay down side by side and watch elevators, I'm sure. ;)  My boys love to watch elevator videos on YouTube.  Dieselducy being the number one user they watch.

Expecting Baby

I LOVE, absolutely LOVE, to have photo shoots with my brother and his wife.  They are the cutest couple, and now family.  My sister-in-law is one of the cutest pregnant ladies, with her little round belly.

We did this photo shoot in Pelahatchie, they have the perfect setting for photographs.  Everything you need is right there within a short distance of one another - from awesome brick walls, a big tree, and grassy areas to train tracks, train cars, and rustic metal.  I love shooting in Pelahatchie!  I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed the photo shoot.

And, here's a little outtake.  Who doesn't like outtakes? :)

 God Bless!

Photo of the Day - Day 9, Mimi's Home!

My boys were so happy their Mimi was home.  So happy they had to get her on YouTube.  I had uploaded a video of them and their "fan club" playing on their swing set, they wanted to watch that.  I chose this for my photo of the day...

Photo of the Day - Day 7, Fan Club

Monday, July 8, 2013:

Thanks to my sister-in-law's brother I have entitled this picture "Fan Club."  My boys have become quite popular with some of the girls who live near to us.  I caught some of the girls sitting and laying down on the trampoline behind us looking over our way.  I was pretty sure they were looking for the boys to come out to play.  They're all very sweet girls and are very mindful of the boys.

Photo of the Day - Day 8, Ethereal Clouds

Tuesday, July 9, 2013:

I'm a big fan of clouds in a blue sky.  Not only do they give us periodic shade, but they are so majestic when the light hits them right.  Especially when they have some darkness to them, the contrast is wonderful!  I was taking pictures of the clouds in front of me, but when I turned around to look behind me I found this...

Gabrielle

I had so much fun shooting Gabrielle's Senior Pictures.  She's such a sweet, fun, beautiful girl.  The car belongs to a friend of her family, this was the one request she had for her pictures.  When we got out to his place I found so many perfect backgrounds.  I loved shooting pictures out there.  I found the beautiful shaded road barn down from his place and the barn is in Pinola.

CONGRATULATIONS, GABRIELLE!
YOU HAVE A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD OF YOU!
